Interactive Animation of Structured Deformable Objects

چکیده
In this paper, we propose a stable and efficient algorithm for animating mass-spring systems. An integration scheme derived from implicit integration allows us to obtain interactive realistic animation of any mass-spring network. We alleviate the need to solve a linear system through the use of a predictor-corrector approach: We first compute a rapid approximation of the implicit integration, then we correct this estimate in a post-step process to preserve momentum. Combined with an inverse kinematics process to implement collisions and other constraints, this method provides a simple, stable and tunable model for deformable objects suitable for virtual reality. An implementation in a VR environment demonstrates this approach.

Critique for CS448B ARTDEFO: Accurate Real Time Deformable Objects
of Paper The paper presents an algorithm for physically accurate simulation of elastic deformable objects that are also fast enough for real-time animation. The algorithm uses Boundary Element Method (BEM) (vs. Finite Element Method). The algorithm applies to deformable objects that can be simulated by linear elastic models. It achieves interactive speeds by exploiting coherence in typical inte...

In this paper, we present a method for simulating the interaction of fluids with deformable solids. The method is designed for the use in interactive systems such as virtual surgery simulators where the real-time interplay of liquids and surrounding tissue is important. In computer graphics, a variety of techniques have been proposed to model liquids and deformable objects at interactive rates....

متن کاملControllable Simulation of Deformable Objects Using the Heuristic Optimal Control Method
Physically-based simulation techniques have been widely used in computer graphics because it creates highly realistic animation. However, due to the limitation of passive simulation and simplified modeling methods, it is very difficult to control the behavior of deformable objects directly. Ability to control the behavior of deformable objects is a very important feature for an effective simula...
